About the Event

Friday, May 29, 2009
7:30 am - 12:00 pm
AT&T Center Auditorium
1150 South Olive Street
Los Angeles, CA 90015

At a time of severe budget problems, Los Angeles is finding it increasingly difficult to finance needed infrastructure. ULI Los Angeles recognizes that the need to invest in roads, bridges, and public transit to waterlines hidden under city streets is greater than ever. The ULI Infrastructure Summit will include a compelling discussion of best practices and a keynote by Dale Bonner, State Secretary of Business, Transportation, and Housing Agency, geared towards finding solutions and developing an infrastructure strategy for Los Angeles.

Today, governments face enormous challenges. Without the use of public-private partnerships, many elected officials will be faced with choosing between harmful reductions in services and significant tax increases. By being innovative and forging new ways of providing vital services, governments are proving that public-private partnerships are a practical and viable alternative.

The decisions public officials make today will either advance or paralyze Los Angeles’s ability to maintain competitiveness, bolster economic growth, and provide the basis for building sustainable communities for the next century.

To that end, ULI Los Angeles has invited State Secretary Dale Bonner to not only inform our community of the State of California’s targeted plans, but more importantly provide insight and guidance to decision makers in both the private and public sectors in their collaborative efforts to develop an infrastructure strategy for Los Angeles.
