Join ULI Los Angeles and the American Planning Association Los Angeles Chapter for a provocative discussion with two of the Southern California representatives of the SB 375 Regional Targets Advisory Committee. In this role, Richard Katz and Michael Woo, long-time trusted policy makers in Los Angeles, will influence the carbon emissions targets for each region and the future development of the community.

Richard Katz
Director, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority
Richard Katz is Director of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Katz has a long history of public service, having served on California's State Water Resources Control Board from 2001 to 2006. Previously, he was Governor Gray Davis's senior advisor on energy and water; he led negotiations on the landmark Colorado River Agreement with the U.S. government, California water agencies and the six other basin states. Katz served for 16 years in the state legislature beginning in 1980.
Michael Woo
Los Angeles City Planning Commissioner
Michael Woo is a trained urban planner and a local government official whose focus on sustainable urban development and transportation. Michael Woo currently serves as a member of the Los Angeles City Planning Commission, where his main focus has been incentivizing to transit use. He also teaches a course in Urban Planning and Development at the University of Southern California. His primary interest is transportation issues, particularly in China, where he started a Smart Growth China program.
