YLG "Leading The Way" Breakfast Series is a complimentary monthly program for ULI members.
This month's breakfast features James Sohn, interim Chief Facilities Executive for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
James, who has held his position since October 2009, is responsible for the management of the District's Bond Program, which includes the current $19.5 Billion program that is building new schools and improving existing campuses; which when complete, will provide every LAUSD student with the opportunity to attend a neighborhood school operating on a traditional two-semester calendar with summers free. James is also responsible for the maintenance and operations of approximately 850 K-12 campuses, as well as the planning and execution of the $7 Billion Measure Q Program.
James joined LAUSD in July 2009 as the Deputy Chief Facilities Executive. Prior to joining LAUSD, James led the Los Angeles Community College District's $6.1 Billion Renovation and New Construction Program as the Program Director. James is not a stranger to LAUSD's Facilities Services Division. From 2002-2005, James served in a number of leadership roles in the New Construction Branch including Director of Operations, Deputy Director of Construction and most notably as the Senior Project Manager on the Central Los Angeles New Learning Center #1 project (Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools).
James has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Arts from Kings College in London. James is a certified LEED AP. James lives in Pasadena with his wife and young son.
Starting at 7:30 am attendees will hear from James Sohn about the current dynamics, emerging trends, and his vision for tomorrow. The short presentation will be followed by Q & A and an open discussion, wrapping up by 9:00 am. Registration will be limited to 25 ULI YLG's or Students only on a first come first serve basis. Light breakfast will be served.

- Early bird special in the building is $12 flat rate before 8:30 am.
- Next to FedEx/Kinko's (this is directly across the street from the building) - 616 Figueroa - $13 before 9:00 am

- 637 St Paul Avenue - Indoor Parking - $5 flat rate
- 7th & Figueroa Parking Structure. 2 hours free with a Starbucks validation (corner of 7th & Figueroa).
