YLG Public Service Event - Tree Planting

ULI Young Leaders partnered with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps on October 13, 2007 to participate in a tree planting on the Westside!
We had seventeen volunteers and a number of staff from Los Angeles Conservation Corps - they were wonderful! The tree planting team taught us how to plant trees and worked with us as they hauled heavy equipment, trees and water. They set up a tent and tables for us. It was hard work but very rewarding too. Sixteen African Sumac trees were planted making a long stretch of road much nicer and our fair city is 16 trees greener. We had 5 young people join us (about 12 years old) that came with their parents - they loved the project and took it very seriously.
A special thanks to the people who made it all possible, the LA Conservation Corps run by Bruce Saito. Without the planning and hard work of Teague Weybright, Carlos Campero, Karla Ramos and their team of professional planters we would never have gotten the chance to volunteer! Special Thanks to Sam Deskin for helping to organize our First ULI Los Angeles Young Leaders Tree Planting Project!
